Do NOT Ignore the Competition

 

Do you ever get unbelievably frustrated by the constant bombardment of commercials that all appear to be saying and doing the same thing about the same product? Most of us do, but there is a reason that all beer companies have funny commercials, all auto makers have product driven commercials, and all food companies have mouth-watering food as the center of their commercials … it works! As a real estate investor you need to follow the same principles in your advertising techniques as these major players did in theirs, follow but don’t copy! There is a difference and by reading on you will find out the answer to this burning question!

By following what the successful people are doing I am speaking of using the same basic principles as they are. Go and advertise in the same avenues and with the same basic formula. If comedy is working for them then you should try to do it as well, if serious is working be serious, or if the high-pressure promises work do that. The key is not to copy them word for word or commercial for commercial. If funny works then you need to be funnier, if serious works then you need to be more serious, if promises work then you need to make them as well and as effective as you can. This will vary by market, so do what works where you are.

Make yourself stand out from the other real estate investors in these methods, you don’t have to be extravagant, just be different. Real estate investors need to have name recognition be it your business name or personal name, and make it something people will think of right off of the bat when they decide to buy or sell. If your competitor is stripes, then you should be solids, just so long as you are both still on the pool table together. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel, just make your wheel a little bit easier to find and get into contact with!
